ABOUT THE ARTIST
I graduated from Middlebury College in 1974 with a studio art/art history degree. My education launched me into a career as an
elementary art teacher for 24 years. I enjoyed teaching in New Hampshire, Singapore for 10 years and then finished my career in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Upon retirement, I started up a small business called heartifactory.com. I currently market my work in retail stores, galleries and art fairs.
I pride myself on creating jewelry with unique and unusual materials. My so-called ‘treasure hunts’ take me to garage and estate sales, thrift and antique stores, even creative reuse centers. My constructionist design process is like a challenging puzzle! I arrange and rearrange materials into a finished design I am satisfied with. There’s variety in my work, ranging from modern to vintage, ethnic to classic. I design for a woman who wants her clothing accessories to make a unique statement.
